Loose Womens Carol McGiffin appears on show make-up free as her face swells up and goes bright red

Loose Women panellist Carol McGiffin appeared on the ITV talk show makeup-free on Thursday as she revealed a pain health development.

Carol has been a staple on the talk show since the early 2000s, where she is usually seen chatting about the latest news items alongside the likes of Charlene White, Stacey Solomon, Katie Piper and Christine Lampard.

On Thursday, the 63 year old broadcaster appeared on the show with Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha and Brenda Edwards, where she addressed why her face looked so different before getting down to the usual program.

Carol, who recently stripped down for a body positivity campaign, admitted to waking up with an incredibly itchy red face and wondered what might have caused it.

She explained: "It looks like I've had a cosmetic procedure of something but I haven't. I woke up with a seriously red face, itchy, so I've got no make-up on."

"It's gone better from this morning though. You had an antihistamine didn't you?" her co-star Kaye questioned.

"Yeah, which. made me feel weird. It's not pleasant and I'm fine not to have any makeup on," Carol continued before Kaye added, "Joking aside it's a horrible thing and we're really glad you're here. We'd rather you here then not here. Hopefully the wee tables will work and you'll be fine and dandy.”

Fans flocked to social media to discuss Carol’s sudden change in appearance, with many users speculating as to what could have caused it.

“What's wrong with Carol's face???” one person wondered, as did another who wrote, “Carol’s face looks sore.”

“Poor carol looks like allergy. hope you feel better soon Xx,” a third wrote, with a fourth joking, “How come Carol can get tomatoes, I cant get any from my supermarket.”

Someone else applauded: “Good on Carol for carrying on regardless of her skin issue. Many wouldn’t and would have gone into hiding if even a spot appeared.”

During Wednesday’s episode of the show, Dancing on Ice’s Siva Kaneswaran, who is paired with Klabera Komini, opened up about a touching tribute in this week’s instalment of the BBC skating show.

The former The Wanted band member, who featured in the band with Max George, Nathan Sykes, and Jay McGuiness, is dedicating his upcoming semi-final performance to the band’s other member, the late Tom Parker.

Tom passed away in March last year following an 18-month battle with brain cancer, aged just 33, and is survived by the countless lives he touched, his wife Kelsey and their two youngsters, Bodhi and Aurelia.

Explaining the tribute, Siva said: "I wanted to do it on Dancing On Ice, I didn't know if I was going to do it – but this weekend is going to be a tribute to Tom."

"This weekend is going to be Gold Forever for Tom, I can't even think straight, I'm just thinking about him. We're going to do a nice tribute, a nice dance, to him,” he added. "I've been very tender this week, very emotional."
