‘John Wick’ Prequel Series ‘The Continental’ Cast Announces 3 Actors in Pivotal Roles

The John Wick universe is rapidly expanding. Starz’s The Continental is a prequel spinoff to the popular action movie franchise. Keanu Reeves‘ title character is the core of the film series, but this world of assassins is about to get a lot richer. The Continental will be a must-see adventure for John Wick fans, especially as the movie sequels keep on coming. Starz announced that The Continental just added three new cast members in important roles.

‘The Continental’ is a ‘John Wick’ prequel

John Wick director Chad Stahelski and creator Derek Kolstad developed The Continental. The hotel safe haven for hitmen and assassins will act as the story’s center point. The John Wick movie franchise established the rules, but The Continental seeks to explore the organization further. It takes place years before the events of the first movie. A young Winston in the 1970s against the backdrop of real events will ground the story in reality. Ian McShane plays an older Winston in the films.

The studio heard various The Continental pitches. Three total episodes compose the limited series, but the studio announced that each episode will have a 90-minute runtime. Previously announced cast members include Colin Woodell, Hubert, Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada, Nhung Kate, Ben Robson, and Mel Gibson.

‘The Continental’ added three new cast members

Variety announced that three actors are joining The Continental cast. They cast Pulp Fiction‘s Peter Greene, Ayomide Adegun, and The Outsider‘s Jeremy Bobb.

Greene will play Uncle Charlie, who viewers might remember as David Patrick Kelly’s character in the John Wick movies. He cleans up the crime scenes after the criminals are done with their business.

Adegun plays Charon, who’s the Continental’s concierge. Lance Reddick fulfills the same role in the films. This is an essential role that contributed a lot to the films.

Bobb will play Mayhew, which is the only new character of the three added exclusively for the show.

The Continental will premiere on Starz. The studio set a 2022 release date around the time that John Wick 4 is expected to hit theaters. However, there’s still no official airing date.

Keanu Reeves is the franchise’s limit

Reeves highly enjoys making the John Wick movies. John Wick 4 recently wrapped on production and John Wick 5 is on the way. The two sequels were going to shoot back-to-back, but that didn’t end up working out. Reeves plans to continue making John Wick movies until audiences are tired of the franchise.

Ballerina is a female-led John Wick spinoff in development. The franchise is showing no signs of slowing down on television or the silver screen. Action movie fans will have a lot of John Wick content to sink their teeth into over the next few years.
