Jamie Redknapp risks ITV wrath as he lets slip about The Masked Singer identity

Football legend Jamie Redknapp has addressed speculation he is Tree on kooky ITV hit The Masked Singer .

Jamie, who is the ex husband of singer Louise Redknapp , appeared on Good Morning Britain to talk about his new road trip series featuring Freddie Flintoff and Alan Carr.

However, the conversation quickly turned to The Masked Singer and the fan theory he is the mystery footballing performer.

Keen to get to the facts, Susanna probed Jamie prompting him to reply: "I have heard this.

"I've got a lovely voice. it does look like me.

However, after being pushed to sing live on the show, Jamie laughed: "No, it is a little bit early this morning."

Pausing he added: "Can I actually tell you if it's me or not?"

After being egged on by Susanna, Jamie explained: "No, it's not me.

"I didn't even know what it was.

"I kept getting messages on my phone about it but no, I am not a tree unfortunately."

As Ben Shephard tried to work out if Jamie was telling the truth he went on: "I promise I'm not lying.

"Is it a footballer they said?

"Yeah I will try and find out for you."

The Masked Singer sees a host of celebs perform in elaborate costumes and masks while the judging panel and fans try to guess their identity.

So far Labour MP and former Home Secretary Alan Johnson has been unmasked as has The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am and The Masked Singer returns to the channel on Saturday at 7pm
