I'm A Celebrity 2021: Adam Woodyatt 'signs up' to ITV show amid EastEnders break

EastEnders legend Adam Woodyatt is reportedly set to make a bid to become King of the Castle on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here this year.

Adam, 53, who hasn’t been seen on the soap since earlier in 2021, is said to have signed a huge deal to appear on the long-running ITV series, hosted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

According to The Sun, show bosses are ‘very excited’ after it’s been claimed he’s joined this year’s cast.

An insider revealed to the publication: ‘Adam was a big target for the casting team — he is a soap legend and is certain to be a huge hit with fans.

‘But they knew they might have their work cut out because he has been quite reticent to do interviews or reality TV shows in recent years.

‘When you consider how long he has been a household name, he has only agreed to a handful of TV appearances outside of Albert Square.

The source went on to add: ‘Everyone is very excited about having him on the show. He’s a brilliant addition.’

He’s been spending his time away from E20 travelling up and down the country whilst he stars in a theatre production of Peter James’ Looking Good Dead.

Despite it originally thought he would only be away from the soap for 10 weeks, he since revealed the break would go on until early next year at least.

He’d follow in the footsteps of fellow EastEnders legend Shane Richie who entered into the grounds of Gwrych Castle in 2020.

Adam’s not the only name reported to have signed-up to get stuck into Bushtucker Trials.

Earlier this week, it was claimed TV legend Richard Madeley agreed a deal worth £200,000 with the broadcaster to appear on this year’s series.

‘Richard’s been asked year after year but the timing has never been right,’ a TV insider said. ‘But now, finally, he’s said “Yes”.

‘He’s a favourite with ITV execs. He’s brilliant off and on screen so it seemed as good a time as any to throw caution to the wind and eat animal bits.’

The source continued to The Sun: ‘He’s a fantastic coup and a nailed-on fan favourite. Once you wind him up, off he goes — he will make for castle gold.’

An ITV spokesperson previously told Metro.co.uk: ‘Any names suggested for the new series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! are just speculation.’

The pair join the likes of Dame Arlene Phillips, 78, who is tipped to be the oldest contestant to take part this series, and Coronation Street’s Lucy Fallon as speculation of the line-up continues.

Metro.co.uk has contacted representatives for ITV and Adam Woodyatt for comment on the reports.

I‘m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! returns later this year to ITV.
