Congratulations are in order for Hollyoaks actress Abi Phillips and her long-term partner, who is known as Gav Gilly.
He popped the question while on a romantic holiday to Lake Garda in Italy.
Abi, who played Liberty Savage on the soap, shared the happy news with her fans less than 24 hours after the proposal.
The 29-year-old posted a photo on Instagram of her flashing her ring next to her new fiancé, in front of a very pretty Italian backdrop.
She wrote: ‘So this happened last night!
‘The most magical week in Lake Garda, with my favourite person in the world ended with us getting engaged.’
Abi then shared details of how and where Gav popped the question, and it sounds pretty perfect.
‘The most perfect proposal at sunset at the edge of the lake,’ she revealed.
The newly engaged actress was feeling reflective about their relationship after taking the next step together.
‘The last 11 years together have been the best of my life and I’m so looking forward to forever together.
‘Thank you for making this trip the most incredible week, it will forever hold a place in my heart. I love you so much!’
The happy news is well deserved for Abi, who spoke last year about being diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
‘I never thought I would be told that I have cancer at the age of 28, you never think it’s going to happen to you.’
She added that she wouldn’t have pushed to see a specialist if it weren’t for Love Island star Demi Jones sharing her thyroid cancer ordeal on social media. She realised that their lumps were ‘in the exact same place’.
Abi found fame on Hollyoaks at the age of 16 when she debuted as Liberty in 2010. She also famously wrote the song Missing You, which featured in Steph Cunningham’s death scene.
She released her first song, Summer Sunshine, in 2011, while also appearing on The Voice UK in 2017.
The character of Libby has been played by Jessamy Stoddart since 2018.
