Hollyoaks kicks off new era as Nancy named new head teacher of high school

Nancy Osborne (Jessica Fox) undertook a new challenge in Hollyoaks as she became the head teacher of the show’s high school, following the untimely sacking of Sally St Claire (Annie Wallace).

The school has been subjected to an intense investigation carried out by the board of governors in recent episodes, after a number of scandals rocked the hallways of the building.

Sally was hopeful that she could convince the head governor to give her a second chance to turn things around but, with Hollyoaks High having suffered a considerable fall in the league tables in terms of academic results, he decided to take things further.

The governor’s harsh words left Sally upset, and she lashed out at him, which resulted in her being fired with immediate effect.

Nancy, meanwhile, was subsequently offered the position of head teacher, which came as a shock to her and, despite her desire to take up the role, she was adamant that she must decline out of loyalty to Sally.

Sally, however, refused to let Nancy do such a thing, reiterating that she’s one of the best educators she’s ever come across, insisting that she take the role, branding her the perfect person to lead the school into an exciting new era.

Nancy thought long and hard about what it is that she wants, before ultimately accepting the new job opportunity, becoming Hollyoaks High’s new head teacher.

The character will soon be leaving our screens, however, with actress Jessica Fox having already gone on maternity leave, confirming a sad exit storyline for Nancy in a post on social media.

However, do not fear, as show boss Lucy Allan told Metro.co.uk that there are no plans for Nancy and Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) to split.

‘It is no great secret that Jess Fox will be departing the show for a period of time, fairly imminently.

‘We will not be breaking Dancy, so there is a challenging reason why she will leave the show for a while.’

Hollyoaks continues Wednesday March 1 at 7pm on E4 or stream the next episode from midnight on All4.
