As fans brace themselves for more Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte amid news that Sex and the City is getting the revival treatment over on HBO Max, the cast is gearing up for a pretty nice paycheck. The iconic series first aired in 1998 and followed New York City sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw and her three best friends — Charlotte York, Miranda Hobbes, and Samantha Jones. The four women set the stage for the exploration of female sexuality, friendship and dating on television.
The ability to resonate with millions of single women across the country resulted in a pretty penny for the show’s main cast. According to Celebrity Net Worth, SATC‘s star, Sarah Jessica Parker, was reportedly paid somewhere around $50 million for the first three seasons of the hit HBO show. By the final three seasons, Parker was reportedly earning around $3.2 million per episode and allegedly took home $15 million for the first SATC movie and $20 million for the second. Her fellow cast members Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis on the other hand made just $3 million for the films, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
With a revival in the works, how much can the ladies of Sex and the City make more than a decade later?
The returning 'Sex and the City' cast will make millions thanks to the revival
In January 2021, Sarah Jessica Parker revealed via Instagram that the Sex and the City revival will update fans on the lives of Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes living in their 50s. Although fans noted the absence of Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha Jones, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis aren’t moving on without a pay day.
According to Variety, the three remaining ladies are expected to bring in $1 million per episode for a season of 10 episodes. The outlet also reports that Parker, Nixon, and Davis will be listed as executive producers of the reboot series. Considering the fact that Parker reportedly made $3.2 million per episode at the end of the series in 2004, the $1 million price tag seems like a bit of a low ball. However, it could be that the network is waiting to see just how well fans connect with the ladies of SATC without the presence of Samantha Jones. We will just have to wait and see.
