Three new Gladiators revealed on Steph's Packed Lunch

Gladiators is returning to the small screen, with members of the public back to battle it out against mighty Gladiators in a number of athletic challenges.

The beloved Saturday night show is going to return for 11 episodes with filming taking place at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield this month.

With a new season on the horizon, an entirely new cast will be welcomed to bring the game show to life.

One of which will be none other than sprinter Harry Leslie Aikines-Aryeetey who is going by his stage name Nero.

Sharing the news to his 259,000 Instagram followers, Nero shared a picture of himself as a small child, posing in front of the Gladiators logo.

He wrote: “Unleashing Nitro – A Childhood Dream Becomes Reality!

“I’m soo gassed!! Brace yourselves for the mind-blowing news: I am about to become a Gladiator, and I couldn’t be more pumped!

“This is like a dream come true, the kind that makes you pinch yourself just to make sure it’s real.

“Years of blood, sweat, and tears have led me to this moment, and let me tell you, I’ve been sculpted into an absolute powerhouse by watching those gladiators on TV as a child.

“But guess what? Now it’s my turn to step foot in that electrifying arena and take on all contenders! Are they ready for the hurricane of intensity that’s about to hit them?”

He went on to describe how Gladiators taught him “invaluable lessons” when he was younger, about pushing himself to the limit and graciously accepting defeat when you lose.

He continued “Now, it’s my mission to inspire and pass on the torch to all those mini gladiators out there, because they deserve to unleash their inner warriors too!

“Get ready to witness the most electrifying, adrenaline-pumping, heart-racing action you’ve ever seen in some time!”

Going by his impressive credentials, Harry is the perfect choice to become a Gladiator in 2023.

As a prodigious junior runner, he was named the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2005.

He also became the IAAF’s Rising Star of the Year after becoming the first athlete to win gold medals at both the 100 metres and 200 metres at the World Youth Championships.

Harry is going to be joined by the likes of Montell Douglas, Jamie Christian Johal, Livi Sheldon and Zack George, just to name some of his co-stars.

Gladiators will return later this year on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
