The Towie star threw her weight behind the Prime Minster after he introduced tough new measures to combat rising coronavirus cases.

And he asked followers to follow the government's rules around wearing masks and social distancing in a bid to "save Christmas".

She posted her famous "I'm claustrophic, Darren" moment from Celebrity Big Brother – but with the name "Boris" instead.

But she wrote in the caption on Instagram: "Guys all jokes aside !!! We must listen to @borisjohnsonuk he’s got a tough job on his hands !!!

"But he is trying to keep us all safe and we must support him ✌🏻 please take note this is not a joke this is real !!!

"LETS DO THIS we could SAVE Christmas 🎄and more importantly SAVE LIFES !!! Let’s stop moaning !!!! And let’s START DOING."

Gemma added the two hashtags "#supportborisjohnson" and "#savelifes".

The prime minister has urged Brits to show "discipline, resolve, and the spirit of togetherness" to get Britain through the "difficult" months to come – or face a new national lockdown.

It emerged yesterday that UK coronavirus cases had risen by 6,178 in 24 hours in the third highest day ever.

The concerning climb brings the total number of people infected by the bug to 409,729.
