Coronation Street viewers finally saw who was behind the tragic death of Seb Franklin – in heartbreaking scenes which aired on Monday night.
The powerful episodes saw Seb's girlfriend Nina Lucas recall what happened on the night she and boyfriend Seb were brutally attacked by Corey Brent's violent gang.
Corey had initially tried to frame Kelly Neelan for the death as both teens stand trial for murder in court.
However, during the second episode, it was revealed that Corey was in fact solely responsible for Seb's injuries which a day later resulted in his death.
Flashbacks showed that Kelly had unsuccessfully tried to pull the gang ringleader away.
As Nina remembered that Corey had repeatedly kicked Seb while Kelly had tried to stop him, Kelly was divulging what had happened that fateful night to her foster carer and solicitor Imran Habeeb.
She revealed that she had gone to check on Seb but also ran away after hearing him making noises and had expected him to pull through.
"I swear I thought he'd be alright. He was moving and making noises," she told Imran.
"I thought I'd get done for it.
"I wouldn't have left him if I thought he'd …"
And a supportive Imran told her: "Corey Brent deserves to pay for this. All the lives he's wrecked. Not you."
A relieved Kelly was later seen overcome with emotion as she said she was coming home.
But Corrie viewers were left fuming at the twist, with many believing that Kelly was as culpable as thug Corey.
One Twitter user raged: "If Kelly walks Corrie will have failed."

A second wrote: "Girls can be violent too! Kelly is a b****, she was enjoying every minute of that attack."
"Kelly may be innocent and tried to stop it but she was still there and it makes her an accomplice. Bravo to all actors on this storyline though," said another.
"Kelly is still not so innocent though," another Corrie fan pointed out.

Another tweeted: "Kelly should have rang the police and the ambulance rather than just stand there and allow the attack to happen. She could have stopped the attack from happening but she didn't."
"Kelly is just as guilty as all the others, she may not have kicked anyone but she was there and didn't get help," commented another.
And another said: "Hope they don't let Kelly go scott free because she still didn't call police after and she was still a part of it. Realistically would she get off completely?"
But others praised her for telling the truth.
"The honesty from Kelly," tweeted one supporter.
"Well done Kelly for trying to stop Corey from attacking Seb. She's such a clever girl. I hope she doesn't go down for something Corey has done," said another.
And another said: "Can someone give Kelly a hug?"
Seb, played by Harry Visinoni, and new love Nina, played by Mollie Gallagher, were set upon by the gang of baying yobs as they walked home after taking a walk along the canal.
Earlier goth Nina was slapped by Kelly after being egged on by the gang.
