Emmerdale star Joe-Warren Plant exits soap as he preps for Dancing on Ice

Actor Joe-Warren Plant has made his exit from Emmerdale as his character of Jacob Gallagher as he prepares to take to the rink for Dancing on Ice.

Teenager Jacob revealed his plans to go and stay with his mum in Portugal, and it Wednesday's episode of the ITV soap he said his goodbyes and headed off.

Of course, viewers knew the exit was related to Joe's appearance on Dancing On Ice.

They took to Twitter to say their own goodbyes to the young actor, who has been on Emmerdale since 2010.

One viewer wrote: "I'm going to miss Jacob."

A second said: "Bye bye Jacob. See you after Dancing on Ice."

And a third added: "After the Leyla and Gabby debacle, no wonder Jacob is getting out of the village and heading for the nearest ice-rink! This comment will make sense come January!"

Jacob had been concerned about leaving Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) behind while she was going through a tough time with Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) and Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).

Gabby had insinuated to Leyla that Liam had taken advantage of her, however despite Liam's denials Leyla didn't believe him.

When she learned the truth, that Gabby has been lying, Leyla tried to make things up to Liam however her pleas fell on deaf ears.

Also during Wednesday's episode, Liam made it clear that things were over between him and Leyla, leaving her devastated.

It seems she'll have to find another shoulder to lean on while Jacob, who is her biological son, is away.

Joe was confirmed for Dancing on Ice in September with the show announcing the new on Instagram.

The official account wrote: "He's spent a decade in the Dales, so now it's time to try out the ice! Better get your skates on Joe."

Speaking about joining the show, the 18-year-old said: "I'm so excited to learn something new. I'm in it to win it, 100 per cent!

"Super excited. I'm glad I have the time off Emmerdale to really focus on training, just to try my best and learn a new skill.

"It's a new challenge, I've never done anything like it before, so super excited."
