Emmerdale boss says fans can forgive Chas as she confirms affair tragedy

Emmerdale bosses have finally confirmed when Chas Dingle's affair will come to light – and there's plenty of Christmas tragedy in store.

Thankfully, she added that fans might be able to "forgive" the soap stalwart, after actress Lucy Pargeter opened up about being telly's "most hated woman".

Speaking to Daily Star and other press, producer Jane Hudson confirmed that Chas and Al's affair will come to light before Christmas Day – leaving Chas and Paddy in for a very awkward festive season with their daughter Eve.

Jane explained: "We’re continuing our story with Paddy and Chas, and how you navigate trying to be the best parents you can when your marriage has fallen to pieces and one of you has had an affair.

"We’ll watch them both go on their journeys and it will be very serious – and quite heartbreaking – as we watch what happens to what was one of our favourite couples, I think, until we tore them apart."

But when quizzed on whether Chas could be forgiven by viewers, Jane confessed: "It depends how forgiving you are. What one person might forgive another might not.

"I think the viewers are always going to find it difficult to forgive her for breaking Paddy’s heart, but I think what we will start to see is Chas doing her absolute best to right her wrongs, and put other people first and acknowledge what she did."

Meanwhile, it's not looking good for Charity and Mackenzie, either, as Mack's own affair with Chloe Harris looks set to be brought to light too.

Jane went on: "We have got Charity and Mackenzie’s wedding on the cards which will be happening next year.

"I think we all know weddings don’t always go very smoothly, and Chloe’s baby will be due around the time of the wedding – so I think you can put the pieces together yourselves and figure out what might happen somewhere around the wedding date and the birth date!

"It will be explosive for Charity and Mackenzie," she vowed.

That's not all. The Dingle family are in for even more heartbreak as Sam and Lydia are given the sad news that one of their beloved pig – the last remaining – needs to be put down.

It's the fifth village death since the epic 50th anniversary month killed off Harriet Finch, Liv Dingle, Faith Dingle and Al Chapman.
