It’s the moment EastEnders fans have been counting down to for a while – Ben and Callum’s much-anticipated big day.

But as the week gets underway in Albert Square, the question on everyone’s lips is whether Ben and Callum – nicknamed ‘Ballum’ by diehard fans – will even make it down the aisle.

Now, the actors who play the popular couple, Max Bowden and Tony Clay, have teased what viewers can expect. And as ever in soap land, it’s not going to be an easy ride as wedding bells ring out around Walford.

After revealing the truth about working undercover against Phil, Callum wakes up on the day of the wedding worried about whether Ben will even show up.

And as an oblivious Phil and Kathy work together to try to get their son to the altar, Ben goes missing.

Max, who plays Ben, says: “Everything is not as it seems. It’s not straightforward, there are a lot of twists and turns, and massive decisions to be made, not only on the wedding front, but personally.”

Tony, aka Callum, continues that the couple have a lot to sort through before they can even think about exchanging vows.

He explains: “It is a bit of a roller coaster week – a lot happens. It’s a very gripping, well-thought-out week, and I think the viewers will be excited to see it. I’m excited to see it!”

Picking up on the revelations that Callum has been working undercover against Ben’s dad Phil, Max explains that Ben has a huge decision on his hands about their future.

Max says: “Fundamentally, it’s Ben’s biggest struggle of all time – choosing between his father Phil and Callum.”

“Going forward, he sees his life with Callum and stepping out of his father’s shadow. But at this point, it’s almost unforgivable in terms of their code of being in the gangland underworld.”

He adds: “It’s an unwritten truth that you don’t grass so the stakes are massive. He has to make a decision about whether to go against what he knows and what his whole world revolves around, to create a world that he wants with Callum.”

While Tony tells viewers they should expect a Callum and Phil Mitchell showdown after Stuart accidentally lets the cat out of the bag about Callum’s undercover work.

He teases: “There has to be a confrontation between Callum and Phil – what that may be, we don’t know.”

“When Callum finds out that Stuart has told him, he is thinking – oh no, what have you done?! Stuart trying to help the situation has just made it 10 times worse…”
