EastEnders spoilers: Jay Brown ‘dumps’ Honey as fans predict spark with another character

EastEnders: Billy Mitchell speaks to Jay Brown about Little Mo

Jay (played by Jamie Borthwick) has had quite a turbulent time in love recently, having broke things off with ex-girlfriend Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) last year on EastEnders after discovering she had slept with Peter Beale (Dayle Hudson). Soon after, he developed a romantic connection with Honey (Emma Barton) but the pair have been dubious to act on their feelings as Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) demanded the couple keep their distance. During Friday’s instalment of the BBC soap, the two beloved characters finally came to the conclusion they wanted to be together but fans are already predicting a split.

This is because they believe Jay would be much better suited to newcomer Frankie Lewis (Rose Ayling-Ellis), who is yet to get a love interest.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Reddit, one fan went into a detailed analysis of why Mick Carter’s (Danny Dyer) daughter would be a match for the car salesman.

User MCAlbertSquared wrote: “Frankie and Jay as a potential couple…not yet of course, because Frankie needs some extensive character development first and more focus on her newfound relationship with her dad Mick and the rest of the Carter family.

“And of course Jay would need to extract himself from that hot mess of a situation with Honey. But…anyone else reckons they’d make a nice couple?”

“Later on down the line of course. They‘ve got a fair amount going for them,” they continued before listing the advantages of why they should be together.

This included the fact there is only a four year age difference between the pair instead of the significantly larger one between Jay and Honey.

Frankie has also become a friend of Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and Calum Highway (Tony Clay) who are extremely close with the car salesman.

They also think the newcomer would be able to put the businessman in his place as well as bring out the fun side he had as a youngster.

Jay also has ties to the Carters as Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) practically helped raise him as a child when she was in a relationship with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).

The Reddit user also added: “It would be nice to see a young, hardworking couple living on the Square and just getting on with it.

“Both of them facing the normal highs and lows of an everyday couple and eventually going on to start and raise a family.”

Therefore, in a future storyline, could Jay begin to see another side to Frankie as they get to know each other a little more.

Unfortunately, Honey would become collateral damage as her partner leaves her heartbroken so he can move on with someone else.

However, this could give Billy a chance to swoop in and win back Honey after glimmers the pair could reunite have been weaved into their storylines over the past couple of years.

Speaking about his character’s chances, the actor who plays the father-of-two, Perry, said: “It’s still his dream – he wants Honey back.

“It’s interesting because during New Year’s Eve 2019, Billy and Honey kissed at Karen [Taylor’s] party, then he helped her with her bulimia and before that he was pointing out that Adam [Bateman] was wrong for her.

“He’s always been looking out for her. With Karen, it was a bit of fun but as Karen pointed out, he still wears his wedding ring. Which is a big giveaway.”

The soap star continued: “I can’t imagine any woman taking a bloke seriously who still wears his wedding ring!

“In his mind he’s thinking, okay I’ll play the long game with Honey. He’s also got the kids so it’s a family.

“All Billy has ever wanted is his own family. And of course, Jay is a part of that,” Perry continued, but could he be the one to bring his surrogate son and Frankie together?

It would certainly benefit him if Jay were to dump his ex-wife, but will Billy really go to such lengths to get what he wants?

EastEnders continues Monday at 8:05pm on BBC One.
