David James, EastEnders’ Emma Barton and Chris Ramsey have been announced to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing 2019.
The news was confirmed on tonight’s instalment of The One Show, with reigning champion Stacey Dooley and Matt Baker revealing all.
Popping up on the show, former footballer David explained: ‘I have had to keep it a secret for so long.
‘I told my mum, and she forgot.’
The former Manchester City goalkeeper, 48, also revealed he had been asked to do the show a ‘number of times’ before finally agreeing.
‘I have been asked to do this a number of times and I said no,’ he told the hosts. ‘But I had a chat with Fozz (Mark Foster) and he said it’s an amazing show with amazing spirits, and so this time around I said yes.
‘I’m looking forward to the lessons to see what happens.’
Speaking about his new venture, Chris, 32, continued: ‘I’m genuinely excited for it.
‘Being a comedian there’s not many family friendly things the kids can see me on.’
And the I’m A Celebrity: Extra Camp presenter revealed he’s already getting the tips at home – as wife Rosie was a professional dancer.
‘My wife used to be a professional dancer, she’s an incredible dancer,’ he added.
‘We were dancing at a friend’s wedding, we were really going for it, but I definitely dropped her.
‘I dropped her on her back and it’s still hurting now.’
Let’s hope whoever is paired with Chris has some kneepads and back protection….
While EastEnders actress Emma, 42, confessed she is just ‘winging’ it.
Discussing her rehearsals, the Honey Mitchell star explained: ‘We have laughed a lot which is just lovely, I think that’s what the shows about, the camaraderie.
‘You have a lot of rehearsals I haven’t done theatre for quite a few years now and I’m quite a bit older.
‘But you just wing it, I’ve always just winged stuff.’
We’re already team Emma, to be honest.
The news may come as a surprise as Iain Lee accidentally ‘let slip’ about the line-up during Good Morning Britain, hours before the big announcement.
Which is slightly awkward.
During his appearance on this morning’s instalment, he told Ben Shepherd and Kate Garraway: ‘They are going to announce the first three people on a show called The One Show.
‘It’s going to be Sam Allardyce, Jamie Laing and Anneka Rice.’
A shocked Ben tried to stop him, asking: ‘They are announcing it later and you’ve already announced it?’
‘Oops, sorry,’ he replied, before trying and failing to backpedal.
But he may have just got his wires crossed about the whole thing as none of his suggestions have made it to the list…
The rest of the Strictly cast have yet to be announced, but there are a string of famous faces rumoured to be joining David and co. on the dancefloor.
And there will also be a new face on the Strictly judging panel, after Motsi Mabuse was confirmed to be replacing Darcey Bussell.
The news was announced on 22 July, with a tweet from the official account reading: ‘Meet out incredible new Judge Motsi Mabuse!
‘She’ll join Craig, Bruno and Shirley when #Strictly returns in the Autumn.’
Strictly Come Dancing returns soon on BBC One.
