The hosts for BBC Breakfast often can change during the week when the regular hosts have other work commitments or time off. Viewers will usually see Dan Walker and Louise Minchin hosting the BBC programme from Monday through to Wednesday, while Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt take the reins for the remainder of the week, as well as weekends. However, on Tuesday, Dan was absent from the famous red sofa and was replaced with Jon instead.
Dan, who usually keeps his Twitter followers updated as to his whereabouts, has not addressed why he was missing from the show.
On Friday he took to social media to wish his followers a happy Bank Holiday weekend as he told them he was having a break from social media.
Sharing a campaign image to stop online abuse, Dan penned: “Hope you have a fantastic Bank Holiday weekend and enjoy the #LineofDuty finale.
“I’ll see you on #FootballFocus but not on here.”
He concluded: “I really hope the #StopOnlineAbuse campaign has an impact. Take care.”
On Monday he shared a picture of himself from the Bank Holiday weekend at Flamborough Head.
The snap showed Dan dressed in a red coat and a woolly hat as he tried to shelter himself from the rain.
He captioned the image: “How was your #BankHolidayMonday? Ours involved a lovely say at Flamborough Head, driving rain, 7 degrees and ice cream.” (sic)
Some viewers also questioned why the host was absent from BBC Breakfast as one tweeted: “Where is Dan and Charlie? When will they be back?”
