“I started on that show when I was 16 years old and Helen has shown me nothing but love since day one.”

Tina admitted Helen has managed to create a feeling of collaboration on set, which she believes plays a key role in the Platt dynamic.

She added: “You can work with other people and they can be a bit ego, Helen is all about making something that works

“I think, it enabled us to actually find our own little soap family and I genuinely sometimes spend more time with the Platt family than I get to with my own family, I adore them all.

The drama-filled family all started in the late 80s when Martin Platt (played by Sean Wilson) started dating Gail Tilsley (Helen Worth).

Welcoming their son David (‎Jack P. Shepherd) in 1990, the pair got married the following year.

Although the Platt family was extended when Martin adopted Gail’s two children from her previous marriage, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) and Nick Tisley (Ben Price).

Over the years, fans of the ITV soap have seen the Platts involved in some of the most dramatic storylines in the soap, from teen pregnancies to sexual assaults and unexpected affairs.

Currently, the Platt family are unknowingly socialising with a serial killer as Gail’s brother Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) has been on a Weatherfield killing spree.

Although he’s not yet caught, ITV bosses have confirmed he’ll get his comeuppance at some point in the future, which means the actor could be leaving the cobbles for good.

Touching on his potential exit, Tina said: “However it ends, I’ll obviously be gutted if and when Todd leaves.

“Because I adore him and I love working with him. But, I do hope that it brings the Platts closer together.

“We’re an award-winning family and I feel it would be great if it would ignite a thing of ‘We need to be together and we need to work through this together.’”
