There has been a shake-up of presenters on BBC Breakfast since the Christmas period began as Dan Walker hosted the programme by himself on Monday. The former Strictly star usually presents the programme between Monday and Wednesday with Sally Nugent, however on Tuesday Sally was replaced with Luxmy Gopal.

And while some viewers were delighted to see Luxmy on the red sofa, others were confused by the shake-up.

“I’m so confused which day it is at present,” Quintin admitted.

“Is today now the pretend Boxing Day as the real one fell on a weekend Whatever day it Is a pleasure to see you on the red sofa Hope Mr W brought some mince pies! Have a great show.” (sic)

Jo praised: “Yay. Morning Luxmy and Dan from Jersey. Always great to see you on BBC Breakfast. Jersey misses you but glad we still are able to still see you. Best wishes. X”

While Ian tweeted: “You look awesome this morning Luxmy, wish you were a permanent fixture on the sofa xxx.”  (sic)

“A Christmas miracle if ever there was one,” Scott commented. A real treat to see you back on the Breakfast sofa, Luxmy.”

Nicole said: “Great to see you back.”

Steve quizzed: “I had to look twice… Nice start to our day. Are you going to be joining Dan on a regular basis? Hope so.”

Introducing Tuesday’s show, Luxmy began: “Good morning, and welcome to Breakfast with Dan Walker and Luxmy Gopal.”

“The headlines for you at six o’clock this morning,” Dan continued.

“No new coronavirus restrictions in England before the New Year.

“The hospitality sector says it is a welcome boost for pubs bars and clubs.”

On Monday, Dan addressed why he was presenting BBC Breakfast on his own.

Taking to Twitter, the 44-year-old explained why he made a solo appearance on the show.

Sharing a snap of himself sat on the sofa alone, Dan began: “I’m a lonesome cowboy on the @BBCBreakfast sofa and am working my way through some mince pies and miniature heroes.” (sic)

The presenter also took to social media on Tuesday where he shared: “I’ve got a friend this morning.”

Posting a picture of him and Luxmy on BBC Breakfast, Dan penned: “I’ve got a friend this morning #BBCBreakfast with @luxmy_g.

“We’re here until 915 so feel free to grab a brew/turkey sandwich and join in.” (sic)

Luxmy was also thrilled to be back as she also gave an update on Twitter.

She tweeted: “Morning sunshine! Dust off the Christmas/Boxing Day cobwebs and join me and @mrdanwalker on @BBCBreakfast this morning.”

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
