A new series of The Great British Bake Off began tonight with an awkward joke about Paul Hollywood.
And viewers were cringing once again when the gag about Paul, 53, not having a heart happened for the second time outside the tent.
The timing could not have been worse after Paul's recent split from 24-year-old ex-girlfriend Summer Monteys-Fullam.
The opening Wizard of Oz-themed skit started with presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig walking down the yellow brick road.
Beautiful Noel, who was wearing ruby red slippers while dressed as Dorothy, skipped arm in arm with co-host Sandi as the Scarecrow.
They bumped into a stern-faced Paul, who was playing the part of the Tin Man, who said: "I don't have a heart."
Picking fun at the Bake Off judge, Noel replied: "That's not going to come as a big shock to people."
The tension was broken by fellow judge Prue Leith appearing as the Cowardly Lion as it was the last costume remaining.
The four Bake Off stars were transported back to the tent when Noel clicked the heels of his slippers together.
Impatient Paul asked: "Are you going to start the show or not?"
While Sandi added: "I don't think it was a dream. Paul still doesn't have a heart."
Cringing Bake Off viewers took to Twitter after watching the awkward joke.
One fan said: "LMAOO the shade of paul having no heart. i love it"
"Let the Paul Hollywood bashing commence," added another.
A third said: "That was a long way for a Paul has no heart joke"
