TOWIE bosses plotting to launch branded cruises, booze and fashion line

It's been one of the best loved and most influential British reality shows for over a decade and now The Only Way is Essex could be getting bigger.

The Sun has reported that the show's producers Lime Pictures have applied for two new trademarks for TOWIE and The Only Way Is Essex which indicates the possible expansion of products related to ITVBe reality show.

Documents show that branded alcohol, travel including cruises, household utensils, furniture, gym and beauty products and clothes could get the Essex treatment.

Clothing and accessories on the list include trunks and travelling bags; umbrellas and parasols, bags, handbags and luggage.

Fans may even be able to snap up TOWIE-branded home furnishings, as pillows, cushions, bedding and towels are covered under the new trademark.

Image and fitness conscious reality viewers could also be able to buy exercise and home gym equipment including wrist weights, floor mats, trampolines, gym balls, bikes (stationary), treadmills, steppers and weight machines.

Last year saw 10 TOWIE cast members axed in the show's biggest ever shake up.

Insiders say they made the mass cull because they want it to “go back to basics” and focus on a smaller core cast of characters.

An ITV source said: “With an ever-growing cast of characters it was becoming hard to give the audience any real insight into the lives of those involved.

“Producers want the show to go back to how it used to be at the start where the audience saw much more of each character’s backstory and what they get up to.

“The bigger the cast, the less screen time each gets. They want to flip that round again and give less more.

“Obviously that means some big names are out which is upsetting, but the bosses felt it was the right time to make a big change.

“Those who have been told they won’t be returning as regulars will be given support in the future as they have done with previous cast members who have moved on.”
