Olivia Wilde slams baseless rumours about Dont Worry Darling after feud claim

Director Olivia Wilde has recently slammed "baseless rumours and gossip" surrounding her relationship with movie lead Florence Pugh.

Fans had spotted supposed tension between the lead actors Florence and Harry Styles, and Olivia, who were often separated for pictures. Florence also announced she would not be attending the film's Q&A which fuelled rumours further.

However, in an interview with Vanity Fair, Wilde had nothing but praise for the English actress.

She said: "She fulfilled every single expectation I had of her. That’s all that matters to me."

The rumoured feud has been festering since fans noticed Florence had failed to post about the movie on her social media channels.

When she finally posted a cast picture for the Venice Film Festival, she failed to mention director Olivia.

In her Instagram post, Florence thanked cast and crew and one co-star in particular, Chris Pine.

"And to all the cast and crew as well who helped to make this movie, thank you for all of your hard work. We genuinely wouldn’t have been there without your talent and we appreciate it hugely," she wrote.

She continued: "I also just can’t help but post how bloody cute and hilarious Chris Pine is for being the no.1 photographer, getting down on white pressed trousered knees for angles.. now that’s dedication. Love you Chrissy."

Despite being snubbed in Florence's one and only post about the movie, Olivia seemed unfazed by Florence's lack of social media activity, saying: "I didn’t hire her to post. I hired her to act."

Olivia went on to express disappointment at the circulating rumours of a feud, which in turn overshadowed her "profound talent" in the film.

"Florence’s performance in this film is astounding. It’s just baffling to me that the media would rather focus on baseless rumours and gossip, thereby overshadowing her profound talent," she explained.

Olivia also revealed she had fired her first choice for the role of Jack Chambers, Shia LaBeouf, after Florence said she felt uncomfortable working with him.

LaBeouf has been accused of social battery by ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs. Shortly after he departed filming from Don't Worry Darling, two women unrelated to the movie accused the actor of physical, mental, and emotional abuse.
