The 20-year-old Grammy-winning singer also makes use of her Instagram account to tease fans with lyrics from the new single, which is set to be released on June 30.
AceShowbiz -Fans are beyond excited after an alleged snippet of Olivia Rodrigo‘s upcoming single “Vampire” emerges online. On Tuesday, June 20, fans shared a video featuring a snippet of a new song on “Sour” heartbreak hotline.
“First snippet of Olivia Rodrigo’s new song ‘vampire’ when you call the Sour hotline,” an Instagram fan account wrote. The said snippet didn’t give away too much as it only features a piano ballad that may be the intro of “Vampire”.
While it’s unclear if it’s really a snippet of the new song, fans showed excitement online. “I’ve heard enough. Give her the Grammy,” a fan tweeted. “Guys, this song is going to have such an epic build up given the instruments involved,” someone else added. “flowers in hand, waiting for me, every word in poetry,” another thrilled fan commented.
However, some Internet users pointed out that the melody sounds like some other songs from various artists, including Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey. In response to the haters, fans quickly defended the “Drivers License” hitmaker.
“you know a huge hit is coming when ppl already trying to discredit you over a few seconds snippet. i smell a repeat of olivia rodrigo’s 2021 domination!” one fan said. ” ‘plagarism’ ‘copyright’ ‘ripping off a song’ ‘sounds EXACTLY like’ only when it comes to olivia. i’m so tired of you all,” another fumed.
Earlier on the day, Olivia teased fans with lyrics from “Vampire”. The 20-year-old Grammy winner took to Instagram to share three lines handwritten across a blank page. “How do you lie?” the singer captioned the post with a simple and fitting vampire emoji.
Olivia first shared the news of the track earlier this month. She shared the single’s black-and-white cover art, in which she is seen wearing dark lipstick, winged eyeliner and two Band-Aids on her neck where a vampire-fang puncture wound has taken place.
“Vampire” is set to be released on June 30. The single marks the “Deja Vu” hitmaker’s first project since her 2021 multi-platinum debut “Sour”.
