When Taylor Swift hinted she might drop something soon, Swifties immediately started speculating. “Exile” music video? “Seven” music video? News about how re-recording her old albums is going?
It turns out Swift was hinting at something. On Nov. 25, Swift will release a folklore concert exclusively on Disney+. The concert special will also feature appearances by Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff, and Justin Vernon who worked with Swift on the album. Here’s how to watch folklore: the long pond studio sessions on Disney+.
Taylor Swift hinted she would release something soon
Before the 2020 American Music Awards, Swift posted a black-and-white photo on Instagram with the caption “not a lot going on at the moment.” The caption trolled fans and was a reference to when Swift posted an image with the same caption back in April 2020 while working on her album folklore.
Essentially, the caption is now a sign for Swifties to know that Swift does indeed have a lot going on. On Nov. 24, Swift revealed what the Instagram photo was for; Disney+ is releasing folklore: the long pond studio sessions on Nov. 25.
“Well it’s 11/24 and 24-11=13 so I’ve got an announcement You haven’t seen this film before folklore: the long pond studio sessions will be out tonight at midnight PST on @DisneyPlus! #folkloreOnDisneyPlus,” Swift tweeted.
Taylor Swift explains the premise of the concert
Swift began working on folklore at the start of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. She released the album on July 24, 2020, and it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Swift frequently writes songs about her own life. On folklore, some of the songs tell stories of people other than Swift, while other songs are based on fictional characters.
In her Instagram story, Swift explained how folklore: the long pond studio sessions came to be:
“So folklore was an album that was made completely in isolation, which means that Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff, and I never saw each other while we were collaborating and creating the album. But we got together at Long Pond studios and for the very first time got to create this music together, play through it, talk through it. We were joined by Justin Vernon and it was filmed by Disney+. It debuts tonight, I’m so excited for you to see it. It was an amazing experience getting to really jump into the album with the people that I made it with and I really hope you enjoy it.”
