Coachella Reverses Mandatory Vaccination Policy as Negative COVID-19 Test Is Enough

According to a new announcement, it is now revealed that the ticket holders of the upcoming music festival are no longer required to be vaccinated against the coronavirus to attend the event.

AceShowbiz -The organizer for Coachella has made a huge alteration in the rules for the upcoming music festival. According to a new announcement, it is now revealed that the ticket holders are no longer required to be vaccinated against the coronavirus to attend the event.

The change was made known to public via Instagram Story on the festival’s official Instagram account on Tuesday, October 12. “After seeing first-hand the low transmission data and successful implementation of safety protocols at our other festivals this past month, we feel confident we can update our health policy to allow for: Negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours of the event OR Proof of full vaccination,” the announcement read.

Coachella announces a policy change.

Representatives for Goldenvoice, which is owned by AEG, have yet to comment on the policy reversal.

Back in August, AEG, the company that holds Coachella among others, revealed that beginning on October 1, all ticket holders to their events must be fully vaccinated. “We have come to the conclusion that, as a market leader, it was up to us to take a real stand on vaccination status,” Jay Marciano, chief operating officer of AEG and chairman and CEO of AEG Presents, said at the time.

He went on to say, “Just a few weeks ago, we were optimistic about where our business, and country, were heading. The Delta variant, combined with vaccine hesitancy, is pushing us in the wrong direction again.”

The company, however, did note on its website that its “vaccination policy will be implemented as an open-ended one, with any changes or reversals informed by updates relating to infection rates, transmission data, variant developments, and local and federal regulations.”

With Rage Against the Machine, Travis Scott (II) and Frank Ocean serving as the headliners, Coachella is set to take place from April 15-17 and April 22-24 in 2022.
