BTS and Megan Thee Stallion Release 'Butter' Remix

BTS and Megan Thee Stallion are determined to end the summer with a bang. On Aug. 27, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook of BTS released a remix of their hit single “Butter” featuring Megan Thee Stallion. With the remix, the Grammy Award winner raps a new unique verse and brings extra ad-libs to the song, giving it a fresh and captivating feel.

Big Hit Music and Megan Thee Stallion officially confirmed the collaboration on Aug. 25. The remix was released on streaming and music-purchasing platforms at midnight EDT on Aug. 27. In addition to being available to purchase and stream, a visualizer of the “Butter” remix was shared on the HYBE Labels YouTube channel.

A press release describes the “Butter” remix, writing:

“Whilst the original version brimming with bright energy put forth the distinctive personality of BTS, the latest version adds more flavor with the rap verses from Megan Thee Stallion. The sometimes smooth and at times charismatic duality of BTS infused with Megan Thee Stallion’s powerful vocal delivery, ad-libbing and signature sound creates a unique soundscape for the listeners to enjoy.”

Megan Thee Stallion also released a statement about the remix in the press release, saying, “I love BTS so I’m super excited to be on the ‘Butter’ remix. I can’t wait for all the Hotties and ARMY to hear it.”

BTS’ “Butter” remix opens with Megan Thee Stallion rapping, “It’s the Hot Girl Coach and BTS,” before continuing into Jungkook‘s opening verse. The single’s first chorus then transitions into Megan Thee Stallion’s verse about her own journey into stardom.

In the verse, she raps:

“Ayy, so smooth like the car I ride / Even ya best party planner couldn’t catch this vibe / Big boss, and I make a hater stay on they job / And I be on these girls necks like the back of they bobs / Houston’s finest, in the room with bosses / Make ’em all get ratchet in they suits and blouses / I remember writing flows in my room in college / Now I need global entry to the shows I’m rocking (Yeah) / Smooth like cocoa butter / My drip more than a puddle / They know that I’m the wave / Take over every summer / They must be giving Stevie if they ever had to Wonder / ‘Cause every beat I get on get turned in to Hubba Bubba, ah.”

BTS’ song ‘Butter’ spent several weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100

BTS released the original version of “Butter” on May 21. The song broke multiple YouTube and Spotify records in its first 24 hours and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in its first week. “Butter” spent a total of nine non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the chart, and it has remained in the top 10 spots of the Hot 100 for 13 weeks.

BTS’ new collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion is almost guaranteed to send “Butter” back to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
