Why Fans Are Praising Prince William and Kate Middleton for Their Birthday Message to Meghan Markle

Fans have commended Prince William and Kate Middleton, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, for their birthday message to their sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, on her 38th birthday. Learn why fans are singing their praises ahead.

Message Prince William and Kate Middleton sent to Meghan Markle on her birthday

Royals they’re just like us. They too send well wishes to family members on their birthdays with an Instagram post. Prince William and Middleton took to the social media platform today to wish Markle a happy birthday.

They chose to post a picture of themselves alongside Markle, her husband Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Prince Charles attending Christmas Day service at Queen Elizabeth II’s Sandringham Estate in 2018. They captioned the post with a sweet and simple sentiment: “Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duchess of Sussex today! 🎈”

Markle’s birthday comes two days after the September issue of British Vogue she co-edited with Edward Enninful,  the fashion magazine’s editor-in-chief. In its pages, fans have been quick to point out maybe not-so-subtle digs toward Prince William and Middleton made by Prince Harry and Markle.

When the cover of the issue went public, Markle’s face didn’t appear on the cover because as she put it, she didn’t want to come off as “boastful.” Fans couldn’t help but think Markle threw shade at  Middleton’s British Vogue cover and Princess Diana, their late mother-in-law, who graced the cover three times.

Prince Harry may have thrown shade in the pages of British Vogue too.

During his interview with Dr. Jane Goodall, the Duke of Sussex noted he and his wife plan on having two children at the most to be kind to the environment. Another comment that may not have been meant as a direct dig toward his brother and sister-in-law who have three children, but nevertheless, the comment has added fuel to the fire that the two couples don’t get along.

Whether or not the Duke and Duchess of Sussex meant the comments as digs, the damage has been done. The supposed publicity stunt of attending a polo match together has been forgotten by fans and royal watchers in light of these recent comments. Which brings us to why fans have (almost)  nothing but good things to say about Prince William and Middleton after their sweet birthday message to their sister-in-law.

Fans have been commending the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for wishing Markle well on her birthday in such a public way as if to say, “we’re not going to stoop to your level,” in spite of the supposed digs. Basically, they are the living embodiment of Michelle Obama’s (who Markle interviewed for British Vogue) famous, “when they go low, we go high,” saying.

Comments on Prince William and Middleton’s Instagram post are littered with praise.

“Go Cambridges! This is how you become the bigger person,” one person wrote while another added, “This post is a class act.”

“That’s why we love you Cambridges. People with a big and kind heart like you guys, who’ll make the perfect forces of change😍,” another Instagram comment read referencing the name of Markle’s British Vogue issue, Forces of Change.

One scroll through the comments section and it’s easy to see the stream of those remarking “well done” and  “class act.”

“Wow to see this post! I really said WOW.. this is classy. You guys are lucky to have William & Catherine,” one Instagram user said.

“Very sweet of you, our future King and Queen 😊❤️ beautiful inside out!” another wrote.

Others called it a “fitting gesture,” “squad goals,” or the “Cambridge family difference.”

Most, if not all, referenced the couple’s class.

“This is why you can’t buy class…You both are bigger person Duke and Duchess of [sic] Cambridge. love you both. ❤️,” one person said.

Another wrote, “You show your class and the big heart, the Cambridges. Well done! 👏”

One Instagram user commented, “This is maturity at its highest 👏🏻.”

“What a sweet gesture from William and Kate! Their attempt at keeping things positive and upbeat

How classy! This is ROYALTY in true sense,” another person commented on the post.

While fans praised Prince William and Middleton’s post, fans also pointed out the Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn’t use royal titles when they sent birthday messages to the Cambridge children. Is this a case of “no good deed goes unpunished” or is there a subtle message between the lines of an Instagram caption? We may never know but we can be sure we along with the rest of the world can’t wait to see how the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrate Prince Harry’s birthday next month.
