The 2022 Grammys Have Been Postponed

It seems that regularly scheduled programming is a thing of the past. For the second consecutive year, the Grammy Awards will not be airing on their previously announced date.

On Wednesday, the Recording Academy and CBS released a joint statement regarding the 64th annual ceremony.

"After careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and our many partners, the Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards Show," the statement read. "The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority. Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, holding the show on January 31st simply contains too many risks."

Due to the unpredictability of the current situation, a new date hasn't yet been established, but the statement promises that one will "be announced soon."

Jon Batiste leads the nominations this year with 11. Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo are also among the most-recognized artists this year.
