Social media users turn Christmas trees into Halloween centrepieces

Ho-ho-Halloween! Social media users kick off spooky season early by transforming Christmas trees into ghoulish centrepieces topped with skulls, pumpkins and witches hats

  • Holiday fans have kicked off the spooky season with festive Halloween trees
  • People from all over the world have fitted their firs with creepy, ghoulish décor
  • Inventive features include a witch’s hat to replace a star, and pumpkin baubles

Although Halloween is more than a month away, families have already started getting into the spooky spirit with some festive décor.

And it’s not just pumpkin and ghost ornaments taking centre stage as some have been putting their Christmas trees to use early by transforming them into seasonal centrepieces to mark All Hallows’ Eve.

Enthusiasts of all things delightfully scary took to social media to share their spectacular Halloween Trees as they turned their festive firs into scary masterpieces befitting the October holiday.

Recycling their yuletide trees, the inventive decorators from around the world replaced a traditional star or an angel with a creepy alternative such as a spider or a witch’s hat.

And when it came to baubles and tinsel, skulls, pumpkins and fake blood made suitable replacements.

The bizarre trend first hit social media in 2018, with festive enthusiasts no longer content to just carve pumpkins to celebrate October 31.

Judging by the hashtag ‘Halloween Trees’ on Instagram, Twitter and TikTok – which has thousands of uses from people around the world – the trend shows no signs of diminishing.
