Princess Beatrice appeared in great spirits as she attended a charity event in Huddersfield yesterday.

The royal, 34, hosted a lunch for her patronage Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice – which supports children with life-shortening illnesses in West Yorkshire.

Beatrice has worked closely with the charity since 2012 when she opened their Russell House building.

The mother-of-one wore a chic yellow striped pleated dress with a white jacket over the top for the occasion.

The glamorous royal kept her red hair down for the occasion and opted for minimal, natural makeup.

Beatrice finished off her outfit with a pair of tan ballet flats with a black toe detail.

Among the guests in attendance was Councillor Masood Ahmed.

The politician worked closely with the charity when he served as Mayor of Kirklees.

Sharing pictures from the event on Twitter, Masood wrote: ‘I was invited as a guest to meet and have lunch at The Three Acres with HRH Princess Beatrice who is the Patron of Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, which was my chosen charity as Mayor of Kirklees.

‘It was nice listening to HRH Princess Beatrice talk passionately about FMNCH.

The images showed Beatrice warmly shaking hands with the politician during the event.

What’s more, the restaurant also shared images from the day on their Instagram account.

Along with a picture of Beatrice chatting with staff, they shared a snap of a menu the royal had signed which read: ‘Thank you for supporting Forget Me Not! With best wishes, Beatrice.’

Princess Beatrice’s latest engagement comes days after the Duchess of York announced her shock breast cancer diagnosis.

Sarah, 63, was diagnosed with an early form of the disease after a routine mammogram screening, her spokesman said. She has been told her prognosis is good and is recuperating at Windsor with her family.

In a statement, the spokesman said Sarah wanted to ‘express her immense gratitude to all the medical staff who have supported her in recent days’.

He added: ‘She is also hugely thankful to the staff involved in the mammogram which identified her illness, which was otherwise symptom free, and believes her experience underlines the importance of regular screening.’

It is understood that she was operated on at the private King Edward VII Hospital in London, which is regularly used by the Royal Family. She was in hospital for five days and was released yesterday.

A spokesman for the duchess said: ‘Sarah, Duchess of York was recently diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer detected at a routine mammogram screening.

‘She was advised she needed to undergo surgery which has taken place successfully.’

On Sunday, Princess Beatrice and her husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi were spotted greeting friends on the final day of Glastonbury.
