Nancy Meyers to Write, Direct and Produce New Movie for Netflix

Nancy Meyers is bringing her filmmaking talents (and her immaculate kitchens) to Netflix, where she’ll write, direct and produce a new feature film.

Meyers and Netflix partnered in 2020 to release the short film “Father of the Bride Part 3 (ish),” which debuted on the streamer’s social channels. The special project brought together the cast of “Father of the Bride” and “Father of the Bride Part II” — Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Kieran Culkin, George Newbern and Martin Short — for the first time in 25 years, with Robert De Niro, Florence Pugh, Alexandra Shipp and Ben Platt added to the mix. Meyers wrote, produced and directed the Banks family reunion clip (also produced by Reese Witherspoon), which benefitted World Central Kitchen.

In addition to writing and producing the “Father of the Bride” films, Meyers is best known as the writer, director and producer of “The Parent Trap,” “Something’s Gotta Give,” “The Holiday,” “It’s Complicated” and “The Intern” and the director of “What Women Want.”

Of Meyers’ prolific filmography, only the 2003 classic “Something’s Gotta Give,” starring Keaton and Jack Nicholson, is currently available on Netflix, but her daughter Hallie Meyers-Shyer’s 2017 directorial debut “Home Again,” starring Witherspoon, is also on the streaming service.

Deadline was first to report news of the deal.
