The influencer shares her beauty and fashion insights on her TikTok and Instagram accounts, where she has a host of followers. She has 139.9K followers on her TikTok account @officiallyval where she 1.8M “likes” on her videos.

On her Instagram account @officially.val she boasts 45.5K followers. The content creator explained why she tapes her face up at night.

Val said: “I’ve been taping my face for a while now and it really works and I love it. And I want to show you how to do it, why I do it, and the results.”

The beauty fanatic detailed how she started taping her face at night because she felt self-conscious about her uneven eyebrows. Val claims taping her face at night helps to lift her eyebrow and to smooth lines on her face.

Val explained: “I feel like at night when I’m sleeping I scrunch up my face because I’ll wake up with one little fine line on my forehead and I’m like, where is this from?”

To combat this, Val sleeps with a wide strip of tape across her forehead. She said: “So, I’ve been taping this here and I wake up without any wrinkles there.”

She also sticks tapes along her nasolabial folds, also known as “smile lines” or “laugh lines”. The beauty fan went on: “I’ve been taping here because I get these smile lines and they’re very, very visible now because I smile a lot. I love them, it’s fine, I just don’t want them to get too harsh.”

She also tapes her nose at night, which she claims makes it less puffy, and that she wakes up with a thinner, more upturned nose. “I tape my nose,” she explained. “It’s pulling my nose up a little bit, and I squish my nose so (the tape) presses on it.

“I’ve noticed that my nose is so much less puffy in the morning because some mornings it will be so puffy. I wake up with it looking so thin and lifted, which I love.

She uses skin tape, which is used for bandages. “It really works guys,” Val said. So, does this strange beauty hack actually work like the blogger claims?

Experts have warned against the trend, with one claiming it may actually make skin worse. It is thought taping your face adds resistance to your facial muscles, actually making them more powerful.

This is would increase the appearance of fine lines even more quickly, the opposite effect Val is hoping for. There are also a number of other underlying ageing issues for skin that taping won’t hold off.

What’s more, taping skin for long periods of time can stop the skin from doing what it’s supposed to be doing at night. It can block pores, increase oil and stop essential oxygen from getting to the skin.

Whatsmore, Val’s fans were confused by the extreme lengths the young woman was willing to go to in an effort to preserve her skin. One said: “Isn’t it easier to accept that we are humans and wrinkles and fine lines are going to happen to us whether we like it or not?”

Another said: “The obsession with being young forever is beyond me! The true power is in aging and accepting it gracefully!” One added: “Nothing can stop ageing, it’s a natural process, all these things may just reduce the appearance of it.”

An incredibly fresh-faced 70-year-old divulged her anti-ageing skin advice recently. TikTok users could not believe the incredibly youthful woman was in her 70.
