DEAR DEIDRE: I HAVE always been careful with my money and managed to collect some savings, though I’m a pensioner now and a widower.
But last year I lent it all to a friend of my son’s – and now he’s playing games.

Initially he said he would repay me once the sale of his flat was completed.
He has been boasting all over Facebook that he got a really good price for the flat, so I know it’s been sold.
But still he won’t pay up. The last time I contacted him asking when he could pay me back, he said he’d been in touch with the police about me harassing him – and they said they would arrest me if I continued to contact him.
I know that can’t be true but what can I do?
DEIDRE SAYS: Do you have anything in writing showing this man said he would pay you back once his flat had been sold?
Text messages, emails, social media messages, letters . . . keep anything valid, as these will help you prove your case.
You can get guidance from Citizens Advice on 0300 330 1184.
You might need to get a solicitor to write on your behalf stating that you are prepared to take this person to court if necessary.
