Strictly Come Dancing’sClaudia Winklemanis well-known for her thick, blocky fringe. But now she seems to have taken the iconic style to extreme lengths.
The TV presenter, 51, let her hair do the talking, with her eyes barely visible, while attending the BAFTA Television Craft and BAFTA Television Awards Nominees Party on April 20. The rest of her hair was styled sleek and straight.
Claudia opted for an all-black ensemble for the party, with a velvet top with puff sleeves and a coordinating pair of leggings. She then added a pop of colour with mustard satin heels encrusted with diamonds.
Anold clip of the Strictly host without her iconic hairstyle went viral earlier this year, as many have often wondered what the star would look like without her trademark fringe. The clip is from 2003 and shows Claudia hosting a BBC chat with Frasier star Jane Leeves.
Claudia, who would have been 31 at the time of the interview, looks remarkably different with lighter brunette hair and just a few wispy fringe pieces instead of the recognisable block bangs she wears today.
One Twitter user commented: “I think this is the first time I’ve seen Claudia Winkleman’s forehead.” A second wrote: “The lack of fringe is the real archive matter of interest here!”
Anotherold interview featuring pre-fringe Claudia recently resurfaced, seeing the presenter in trouble after askingS Club 7members a banned question about their finances.
Claudia defended her line of questioning, saying: "It has been in the papers and they didn't give a list [of questions that were off the table].
"You interview all sorts of people and you are sometimes told actually do you know what, don't ask this… but they seemed fine."
After the triumph of her BBC One show, The Traitors, the host has reached the pinnacle of her fame this year. In an earlier interview with OK!, she humorously shared that she is seldom seen without her bangs, joking that her forehead is "wrinkled like a Shar Pei" underneath her fringe.
“It's never been cleaned. There are small creatures under there. There are parrots and squirrels. It should be protected by UNESCO for the wildlife,” she added.
The bangs will be coming back to our screens soon, with Claudia set to host a second series of The Traitors on BBC One – according to sources – after the surprise success of the first series of the show.
The second season is due to start filming this summer and will once again be set at the 19th century Ardross Castle, 25 miles north of Inverness, Scotland.
A show source said toThe Mirror: “These days almost every new series is a reboot of something that's gone before."
They continued: "So it's really nice to try something fresh – and for it to do well. The Traitors got everyone talking, so bringing it back was a no-brainer. Claudia was perfect."
