999 What’s Your Emergency viewers were left ‘disgusted’ after a robber who pulled a knife on a pregnant woman got away with the crime after police struggled to identify him.
In last night’s episode of the Channel 4 show, cops could be seen attending to a report of an incident at a Nisa Local in Catcliffe, South Yorkshire.
Shocking footage showed a hooded man casually walking into the store, before pulling out a blade – which looked like a large kitchen knife – on the 23-week pregnant shop assistant and ordering her to open the till.
‘A knife pulled on a pregnant woman, absolutely disgusting,’ wrote one, while a second penned: ‘The poor girl hope she’s ok. More vile scum with knives.’

The woman, who was threatened at knifepoint, explained: ‘I came to go to the toilet but I heard the door go.
‘I went to go back out and then the lad met me at the door with a knife in his hand. He told me to open the till. I said, “No don’t, I’m pregnant.” He got hold of my arm, dragged me to the back of the till and grabbed hold of it and pulled it, then he went. I was so scared.’
PC Kirsty Smith added: ‘To be threatened by any knife is scary but to be threatened when you’re pregnant is horrific.’
‘He looks like a kind of desperate-times kind of robber. For armed robbers to target convenience stores have to be pretty desperate and local.
‘They’re not going to get much money. You’re threatening someone with a knife for the sake of £50.’

One person took to social media and wrote: ‘Full hour of incidents on #999whatsyouremergency and not one criminal gets convicted’ (pictured)
Mandeep, who has ran the shop since 2017, said: ‘Why should somebody be able to come into my store and help themselves?
‘The government need to look at why people are doing it – why are they turning to this sort of crime to get by?’ It shouldn’t be the case.
‘Nobody should feel like they need to turn to crime. If it’s a financial thing, there needs to be more support out there for people.’
However, come the end of the episode, it was revealed that the police never managed to catch the man who robbed the convenience store because they couldn’t identify him.
‘Although police were unable to identify the knife-wielding robber, the shop assistant he threatened has now had her baby,’ the voiceover said.
The programme revealed that in February 2020, call handlers suddenly saw a sharp influx of anxious calls, with a corresponding increase in erratic behaviour from the public. And while several incidents were documented, those who tuned in were outraged that not one person was charged.
‘Full hour of incidents on #999whatsyouremergency and not one criminal gets convicted?!’ raged one, while a second fumed: ‘Always disheartened at the end when no b**** is charged.’
