Echo has been hailed as the world’s most talented duck but she wasn’t playing ball during her big This Morning debut.
The feathery star has been schooled by dog trainer Joe Nutkins, who has almost 18 years of experience, after being together since she was an egg, and they’ve bonded ever since.
Joe insisted Echo could ‘comfortably do 30 tricks’ and has even started to learn bowling after she tried to join in when she was training the pooches.
‘She used to come in. I’ve got terriers and I was doing a lot of online dog training,’ she recalled.
‘Every time I was getting ready to do training with the dogs, she was there wanting to do stuff as well so we just kept going. Every time I teach her something different she really picks up and just does it.’
Joe revealed Echo had learned to play the piano through something called ‘beak touch’, but her performance and obstacle course didn’t go to plan.
She did follow a bit of food – very slowly – between some cones and through a tunnel, but This Morning presenter Craig Doyle had to get on his hands and knees to try and encourage her.
Echo – who isn’t the first troublesome duck we’ve seen on the show – then refused to knock a ball into a goal, and even the piano display came across more as her pecking at food on the keys rather than a tune.
Craig and co-host Josie Gibson were very encouraging, but viewers were less impressed with one person insisting: ‘So what we’ve learnt is you can’t actually train a duck #ThisMorning’.
‘Pretty sure I’ve seen all ducks waddle around just like that one did #thismorning,’ laughed a second viewer, while a third added: ‘Lol, I’m loving this defiant duck 🤣#thismorning’.
Another quipped: ‘Echo not giving a flying duck about the obstacle course 😂🦆 #ThisMorning’
‘The duck 🦆 is having none of this performance sh**e 😂😂,’ tweeted a different viewer, as yet another teased: ‘The duck just walked around for a bit, didn’t it? #thismorning’
And another person added: ‘”The Worlds most talented duck” is actually a woman dropping food on the floor and a duck walking round eating it… what have we become 🤦♂️ #ThisMorning’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
