Supreme Pays Homage to Butthole Surfers With Latest Capsule

Supreme pays homage to American rock legends Butthole Surfers this spring, with an apparel collection boasting a plethora of the band’s most epochal artwork.

Founded in 1981 by Gibby Haynes and Paul Leary, Butthole Surfers garnered a reputation for its humourous punk-inspired sound, which also incorporated sounds of psych, sludge metal, electronic noise and non-traditional instruments.

In the 40 years since the band’s inception, Butthole Surfers has released an array of tracks and with them comes accompanying artwork, and it’s this visual catalog the New York-based has housed onto everyday garments for a unique one-off capsule.

Shirts, hoodies and an array of T-Shirts showcase a wide selection of imagery — all of which designed in-house by the Butthole Surfers — featuring artwork from their eponymous EP, Powerless, Another Man’s Sac, Rembrandt Pussyhorse and its 1987 follow-up Locust Abortion Technician.

The full Supreme Butthole Surfers collection is set to drop at Supreme both in-store and online on July 1 and will be available in Japan on July 3.
