After opening a store in Beijing earlier this summer, the label’s first-ever brick-and-mortar location in China, A-COLD-WALL* now reveals another location in Shanghai’s 120,000 square-meter Taikoo Li Qiantan retail complex. Described as a space for “Material exploration, detailed study, and permanent interaction,” the project was conceived and developed by the A-COLD-WALL*’s Industrial Design team led by artistic director and founder, Samuel Ross.
Echoing the British Modernist-inspired themes presented in Beijing, the store is accented in bright shades of “Primary Volt Blue” across the borders of the floor-to-ceiling glass facade, entry walkway, and metal partition walls. An LED wall, large light panels on the ceiling, and steel shelving create a futuristic and industrial ambiance while a large charred wood installation in the center of the store references the brand’s brutalist influences.
