Reception Pays Homage to Beloved Tokyo-Based Jazz, Blues, and Soul Bar "JBS"

“Jazz, Blues, and Soul” is the vibe for Reception‘s pre-fall 2021 capsule collection “JBS,” which takes its name from the beloved Shibuya-Tokyo-based bar of the same name.

Based on the JBS bar itself — as well honoring its founder and owner Kobayashi-San — Reception pays homage to the bar’s eclectic array of vinyl (which totals over 10,000 unique copies) as well as the bar’s decor. So, a palette informed by soft pastels and laid-back colors found in the bar now find themselves decorating T-shirts, long sleeves, shirts, trousers, tote bags, caps, and a record player’s slip mat.

Working in collaboration with the Tokyo-based artist Mayumi Yamase, Reception covers these garments in a vinyl pattern to look like oversized polka dots, the “JBS” moniker, and more. As worn by Kobayashi-San himself, we see standout pieces such as the kitchen pants, which are made from 300gm 100-percent cotton and are finished in a dusty shade of blue, fitting straight for a skateboarding-tinged aesthetic.

The bowling shirt in white is made entirely from crepe, and is finished with cat-eye buttons for a sleek, summer-ready look. Rounding out a key full fit would be the six-panel cap, which again uses heavy cotton and is rounded off with an embroidered “JBS” logo on the front in the white variant.

The whole collection can be seen in the lookbook and product images above, and all of the Reception “JBS” capsule is available to purchase on Reception’s website now.

In other news, Supreme has just dropped its latest weekly collection, which also features a Massive Attack collaboration.
