With Summer fast approaching, Japanese artisan footwear and leather goods brand Hender Scheme previews a new style of Caterpillar sandals in collaboration with Vibram.
The open-toe model features a cork footbed, thick pre-formed cowhide strap, and custom Kamaboko (a Japanese fish cake) Vibram soles which are lightweight, abrasion resistant, and ultra-grippy with grooves resembling the semicylindrical loaves they’re named after. Bottoms are further studded with an embossed pattern of scattered letter branding drawn by artist Masanao Hirayama. The pairs arrive in “White” and “Black” color options with the lighter pairs featuring a two-toned strap.
Look for the Hender Scheme Caterpillars to release on May 20 via the brand’s online shop and locations for ¥38,500 JPY ($282 USD).
