Evan Peters to Portray Serial Killer Jeffrey Dahmer in Netflix Series

American Horror Story staple and WandaVision actor Evan Peters is set to take on the role of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s upcoming Netflix limited series, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

According to reports, Monster will narrate the crimes committed by Dahmer and will mostly be told from the perspective of his victims. The series will dramatize at least 10 occasions when the notorious serial killer was almost caught but eventually let go, and will take a closer look at the “police incompetence and apathy that allowed the Wisconsin native to go on a multiyear killing spree.” In addition, Monster will supposedly explore white privilege as Dahmer, who walked around with a clean look, was frequently let go by police and was given lenient punishment by judges when he was charged with petty crimes.

Joining Peters are Penelope Ann Miller and Richard Jenkins (Jeffrey’s parents, Joyce and Lionel Dahmer), Shaun J. Brown (Tracy, Dahmer’s supposed last victim who escaped), Niecy Nash (Glenda Cleveland, Dahmer’s neighbor who tried to call the cops and FBI regarding Jeffrey’s behavior) and Colin Ford (a character named Chazz).

Jeffrey Dahmer was widely known as the Milwaukee Cannibal and Milwaukee Monster as he murdered and dismembered a total of 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991 — some of the late murders involved acts of necrophilia, cannibalism and preservation of body parts. It wasn’t until July 1991 that he was arrested, when Tracy Edwards managed to escape Dahmer’s apartment and notify two police officers about his encounter with the serial killer. Dahmer was convicted of 15 out of the 16 murders he was charged with and was sentenced to 15 terms of life in prison in February 1992, but received a 16th term for one more homicide he committed in Ohio in 1978. He was beaten to death at 34 years old by fellow Columbia Correctional Institution inmate Christopher Scarver in November 1994.
