Following months of leaks and teasers, the CLOT x Air Jordan 14 Low “Terracotta” and Air Jordan 35 ”Warrior Jade” are finally set to officially release. Taking a closer look at the latest in the streetwear mainstay’s ongoing long-standing partnership with Nike/Jordan Brand, we get a better idea of how CLOT founders Edison Chen and Kevin Poon are continuing their mission to bridge the East and the West.
Following 2018’s CLOT x Air Jordan 13 Low “Terracotta,” the Air Jordan 14 Low “Terracotta” continues elements of its predecessor. Serving as an ode to Chinese history and timelessness, characteristics drawn from the armor worn by the first Emperor of China Qin Shi Huang’s army is incorporated with Jordan Brand elements that celebrate Michael Jordan‘s love of the game.
The upper of the shoe is marked with an expression of Terracotta Warrior armor plate with the dots in between the stitched dashes coming in rows of twos and threes a nod to “23.” Marked with “CLOT” and “JORDAN,” the tongue on the shoes are designed to look like the stretched out Chinese scroll. Other traditional details include a pan chang knot and coin hanging off the heel that symbolizes “如意吉祥,” a Chinese idiom for prosperity and happiness. Finally, the light tan and grey Zoom Air Phylon foam insole and matching rubber outsole are accented by Terracotta-colored segments.
The accompanying Air Jordan 35 “Warrior Jade” marks a new discovery in the story of the CLOT x Jordan Brand partnership. Recognizing the Chinese Jade as a highly prized and timeless symbol of Chinese culture, the highly-limited represents the durability, purity, beauty and auspicious nature of the ornamental mineral.
Setting the tone of the shoe, the upper is centered around premium gray suede marked by debossed details at the heel, 3M detailing throughout and gold-tone eyelets. Additional detailing comes in the form of Jumpman embroidery at the tongue, extended tongue tags, “CLOT” and “JORDAN” debossed at the vamp, branded hangtags and printed insoles. While the innovative Eclipse Plate comes in a brilliant green jade-like tone framed by red Flywire and surrounded by a Zoom Air sole unit. Each shoe comes complete with a special box bearing the predominant colors of grey and jade green.
Priced at $1,499 HKD/¥1,499 RMB /$5,700 NTD and $1,599 HKD/¥1,599 RMB/$6,200 NTD (approximately $190 and $200 USD), the CLOT x Air Jordan 14 Low “Terracotta” and Air Jordan 35 “Warrior Jade” are set to release in the coming weeks.
