You can’t always make every event thrown by a friend, and Amanda Holden seemed particularly disappointed to be missing the grand celebrations for pal Keith Lemon’s birthday on Saturday night.
The comic – real name Leigh Francis – turned 50 over the weekend and decided to mark the occasion by growing a grand fancy dress party.
With attendees including Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton going all in with elaborate and impressive costumes, unfortunately it was the Britain’s Got Talent judge who was forced to sit this one out.
Amanda, 52, took to social media to send her apologies publicly while also wishing her friend all the best for his big day in a series of posts.
Sharing a photo of the two of them smiling together in thick coats and scarves on her Instagram Stories, she wrote in the caption alongside a champagne toast emoji: ‘Sorry to miss your celebrations.’
Following up with another photo on Saturday night, she added: ‘Love you @keithlemon.’

The Heart presenter then posted a photo from their faux mockumentary series together, The Holden Girls: Mandy and Myrtle, in which Keith played her ‘nan’ Myrtle.
‘Happiest of birthdays to this gorgeous, funny and generous human @keithlemon,’ she wrote, before also resharing a clip of them during filming for the 2021 comedy series, where Keith as Myrtle quizzed her on what she hadn’t done yet in her life yet that she wished to (a Bollywood movie, if you were interested).
The TV star had shared the clip himself earlier in the week, commenting: ‘3 days left in my 40s! Madness! On this day 2021. #mandyandmyrtle #theholdengirls this was so fun shooting this with the lovely @noholdenback she gave me a lovely birthday present too. Super kind. Happy Thursday!’
It’s unclear as to why Amanda wasn’t able to attend the occasion as she didn’t divulge a reason, but Celebrity Juice star Keith put together quite a guest list for his birthday bash, held at White City House, with a theme of movie characters.
Holly showed off her best cowgirl Barbie, inspired by Margot Robbie in the upcoming live-action film, while Phillip and Joel Dommett both had the same idea of dressing up as Anchorman legend Ron Burgandy, one of actor Will Ferrell’s most popular characters.
Emily Atack was ultra-glam as Marilyn Monroe, while Kimberley Walsh and her partner Justin Scott went all in as swashbucklers from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
