The Boys Showrunner Says New Series Is Exciting in a Perverted Marvel Way

The Boys showrunner Erik Kripke has teased the show’s upcoming spin-off series, admitting it is “exciting in that sort of perverted Marvel way”.

Announced last year, the new series will follow a new batch of younger superheroes in a college run by the evil corporation Vought International.

Opening up about where things stand with the currently untitled show, Kripke told The Hollywood Reporter: “We’re writing furiously. I think it’s coming along really great.

“It’s exciting in that sort of perverted Marvel way – in the way that different Marvel projects are very different: One’s a thriller, one’s a comedy.

“This feels like that, too, but with a ton more dick jokes.”

The spin-off has been described as part college show and part Hunger Games, as the hormonal superheroes put their power to the test and compete for the best contracts in the outside world.

Amazon Prime Video recently launched another mini spin-off called Seven on 7 on VNN on YouTube, which will be released on the seventh of each month up to the launch of season 3 and will “bridge the gap” between seasons 2 and 3.

However, a release date for The Boys season 3 remains under wraps as things stand – so watch this space. What we do know though is that Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles is joining the cast, as well as there being speculation that The Walking Dead‘s Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be joining the supes world.
