Susanna Reid made a dig at Meghan Markle on today’s Good Morning Britain.
The presenter described the Duchess of Sussex “increasingly hard to defend” as she and co-hosts Ben Shepherd and Charlotte Hawkins discussed Meghan’s upcoming interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The interview saw the royal open up about daughter Lilibet's teething struggle and her days as an actress.
Susanna also made a jab at Meghan when she referenced “private jets” as she and her co-stars talked about her first chat show appearance since she and husband Prince Harry did a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this year.
“The last time we saw Meghan on a chat show, she was doing the big reveal on Oprah,’ said Susanna.
“That was quite a quiet affair, wasn’t it? The fallout from that one?’ Ben, 46, joked.
“Goodness me,” continued Susanna, 50. “She put a rocket under practically everything, frankly, from the Royal Family to this programme.”
The star then introduced a clip of Meghan on Ellen and said: "You would imagine that they would put out a clip perhaps about Harry, or perhaps her feelings about the Royal Family, or perhaps about everything that has happened in the wake of that…
"But no, we go right back to her humble, hard-working roots. Let's have a look."
In the clip former actress speaks about previously visiting the same set where Ellen is filmed when she was auditioning for acting roles.
She also explained how she used to drive a Ford Explorer, and it was so old the driver’s side door had stop working so she had to get in through the car’s boot.
"The drive in today was very different," Meghan said to Ellen.
As the clip ended, Susanna concluded: "There we go – let's never mind the private jets."
The trio also responded to one Twitter user who wrote commented on the GMB Twitter saying: “I’m sorry but didn’t Meghan and Harry say they didn’t want to be in the public eye, but yet again another interview by Meghan."
"If you don’t want the spotlight, here’s an idea, don’t do interviews.”
“It sounds so simple,” laughs Susanna in reply.
She continued: “I find that it’s getting increasingly hard to defend but their explanation is that they don’t want the kind of media coverage, the kind of endlessly critical media coverage that they were getting and with the undertones that Prince Harry and Meghan said that there was around it, and that they wanted almost to take back control didn’t they?”
“It’s got a ring to it that phrase!” added Ben. “And look how well that’s worked out,” continued Susanna, who then accidentally spilled a glass of water.

Revealing what she’d done as the camera panned to the spilt glass, the star said: “I’ve spilt an entire glasses of water in my attempt to defend Meghan and her endless interviews as she argues for privacy.”
She added: “As she spills the tea, I spill the water!”
