Former Strictly Come Dancing star Flavia Cacace, 41, has moved to a rural location on the south west coast of the country to start a new life with her actor husband and former Strictly partner Jimi Mistry, 48. The couple’s lifestyle Instagram account charts the married couple’s attempt at sustainable living, including growing their own produce and installing a run to keep chickens – and is world’s away from their former glitzy showbiz lives.

Our Life At The Barn

Posting her sustainable endeavors at the barn on Instagram, the star set up their account Our Life At The Barn to show fans their progress.

The description of the account reads: “Follow us @flavia_cacace @mistryeats and #pabloandzak on our life changing journey as we move to the country and follow our self sustainable dream.”

The barn features a greenhouse, polytunnel, compost bed and animals such as alpacas and chickens, as the couple regularly document their progress at doing up the property.

Flavia and Jimi also share their efforts at growing their own fruit and vegetables, including a lemon tree, courgettes, mini cucumbers and potatoes.

Recently, the lifestyle account has documented the pair renovating an old chicken run.

Posting a picture of a large patch of grass, the couple revealed that they had reseeded the ground to make way for a brand new run for their chickens.

In a following post, the pair revealed that they were ready to hook up the electricity.

The post read: “Wow electric mesh fence now up and border channel dug and filled with stones. Now to build chicken world and hook up the mains electric. Time for a Friday drink #ourlifeatthebarn #chickenworld #electricfence #fridaywork.” (sic)

Flavia moved to the UK at the age of four with her Neapolitan family and attended school in Guildford.

After the star’s mother insisted that each of her six children have a hobby, Flavia was enrolled for local ballroom dancing lessons when she was six.

After Flavia tried dancing with Vincent Simone, the duo branded themselves as Vincent and Flavia when performing and have been dancing ever since.

The star met her actor husband Jimi after being partnered with him on the 2010 series of Strictly Come Dancing and three years after meeting, the couple tied the knot.

Flavia starred on the BBC dance competition from series four to 10 and in 2012 won the coveted Glitterball trophy with celebrity partner and gymnast Louis Smith.

Six months later Flavia announced that she and Vincent had decided to leave the dance show to focus on other work.

Last year, The Yorkshire Post reported that Flavia and husband Jimi had started personal training and nutrition company

The business combines Flavia’s personal training qualification with her husband’s love of food and nutrition.

Speaking about their new venture, the couple said: “We have both gone through stages where we have looked at what we are doing and decided that it’s time to try something else,

“For me it was personal training, for Jimi it was food and nutrition. We knew we wanted to do something together,” Flavia added.

The star continued: “Having been a dancer for 25 years, I decided it was time for change.

“I needed a new challenge both mentally and physically, I needed to start looking after my aching muscles and joints and to recharge my mental and emotional wellbeing after years of hard work and success in my industry. It was time to focus on me.”
