Michelle Heaton has opened up about her plans to work in schools, prisons and hospices in 2022.
Speaking exclusively to OK!, the 42 year old says she wants to “give back” and spread the word of her sobriety programme to those in need following her own battle with alcohol and drug addiction.
“I suppose my hopes and goals is to continue my journey absolutely but to give it back, too,” says Michelle as she poses for an exclusive festive photo shoot at home alongside her husband Hugh Hanley and their children, Faith, nine, and AJ, seven.
She continues of her aims for 2022: “To give it back I remain more sober, and when I say more sober, I’m obviously sober, but it’s just a term that we use.
“I want to work in all areas in sobriety and to spread the programme around, whether it’s working with kids, youths of today, hospitals, hospices and prisons alike, that’s my goal next year, 2022.
“I’m telling you all you can have a life of freedom if you want it.”
The Liberty X singer is set to have her first sober Christmas after entering The Priory earlier this year.
And Michelle hit a huge milestone recently when she celebrated 200 days sober.
Telling us about marking that milestone, Michelle said it feels “surreal” to have got to this point.
“It feels so surreal that I’m past 200 days clean and sober,” says Michelle. “To have that freeness and not have the obsession every single day, and the obsession was that I had to have the drink, and I’m free from that.”
She continues: “I can’t even explain in words, it still gets me deep down.
“I get that thing that sticks in your throat when I talk about it because I can’t believe this is my new life and I have a life when I was going to lose it.”
The subject is of course an emotional one for Michelle and her family, but it’s clear just how proud hubby Hugh is of the mum of two.
He tells us: “I think it’s amazing how far you’ve come over the last six months. The difference in Michelle and her personality and the life for us and the kids having Michelle back in our life is just amazing.”
The personal trainer continues that it’s been “amazing” to see the transformation in his wife of 11 years after leaving rehab and tackling her addictions.
Hugh says: “I’m super proud of Michelle and what she’s achieved in the last 200 days. I think it’s amazing. I think watching her go through this change and how much she has actually changed and done her programme and stuck to it, it’s just amazing.
