American publisher Larry Flynt has died from heart failure. He was 78-years-old.
Family sources told US publication TMZ that he passed away on Wednesday morning in Los Angeles.
Flynt has been regarded as one of the biggest names in the adult film industry for over 50 years, launching the ultimate porn empire and was behind the likes of Hustler magazine in 1974.
His fame led to him being shot in 1978 by seal killer Joseph Paul Franklin and the publishing mogul was left paralysed from the waist down following the attack and confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
He leaves behind five daughters and a son as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
