Jenna Ortega fans cant get over her mum calling her out in public for smoking

Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega made headlines a few weeks back when she was spotted smoking a cigarette during an outing with fellow actor Gideon Aldon.

The 20-year-old actress was captured on camera in Notting Hill, London, enjoying a drink and a smoke, seemingly oblivious to the "no smoking" sign above her.

The sight of Jenna smoking disappointed many of her fans, who expressed their concerns after seeing the photos and videos. One tweet read: “WTF JENNA SMOKES? NOOO.”

Another fan wrote: “legit don’t understand why anybody chooses to actively smoke cigarettes after the general social shift away from them, like 20+ years ago.”

On the other hand, some came to Jenna's defence amidst the criticism, highlighting that as an adult, she can make her own choices. One fan wrote: “People really think celebrities owe them something. Now they are mad at Jenna Ortega for smoking a cigarette??? Why are people trying to control and micromanage other people’s lives??? Her job is to act and entertain on screen. Their personal life is NOT your business.”

Another added: “But the people who get scandalised by Jenna smoking? she's 20, she's not a kid.”

The social media frenzy sparked a significant uproar, prompting Jenna's mother, Natalie Ortega, to join the conversation and express her thoughts. Natalie took to Instagram to share a series of posts, ranging from lighthearted to serious, shedding light on the risks associated with smoking cigarettes.

One of these posts was a meme of Gollum from The Lord Of The Rings alongside the caption: “Don’t believe those lies about cigarettes being bad for you. I’ve been smoking for most my 21 years and I feel great!”

She also shared an excerpt from an article that delved into the link between cigarettes and lung cancer, adding a sticker that emphatically stated "FACTS”, as well as sharing several posts highlighting the negative effects of smoking, which included “cigarette stench,” “damaged teeth and gums,” “cataracts,” and “brittle bones.”

She finished up by sharing a quote that read: “A mother is always a mother. She never stops worrying about her children, even when they are all grown up and have children of their own.”

On Twitter, fans also shared their reactions to Jenna Ortega’s mother calling out her own daughter for smoking. One wrote: “Jenna Ortega’s mom is sending shots at her own daughter about smoking via her instagram story ain’t no way.”

Another added: “Jenna ortega’s mom posting this on her insta story after the pics of Jenna smoking a cigarette…Latina moms r ruthless.”

Jenna is in the UK as production for Beetlejuice 2 kicked off in London on May 10. She is starring alongside Winona Ryder who is reprising her role as Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice 2 as well as Michael Keaton who will be back in the titular role.
