Ellen DeGeneres endorsed Amanda Gorman for president
Poet Amanda Gorman already has a celebrity endorsement should she make good on her declaration to run for President of the United States.
During an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the titular daytime talk show host gave Gorman her full support. “I want to be one of the first to give you my official endorsement,” DeGeneres said. “We’re behind you 100 percent,” she added as she proceeded to show off various 2036 campaign merch — we’re talking pens, t-shirts, the works.
Gorman revealed that her White House dreams didn’t begin when she spoke during Joe Biden’s Inauguration Day on Jan. 20, 2021. “This is a dream that I think came into existence around sixth grade,” she explained. “I had a math teacher who said kind of somewhat jokingly — because I was a very passionate, feisty girl, as I am today — you should run for president.”
“I was like, you know what? That tracks. Let’s put that on the bulletin board for the future,” Gorman said.
One thing is for sure — this woman already has many supporters should she decide to make her dreams a reality someday!
