Gwen Stefani is opening up about the lead up to her engagement with Blake Shelton.
In case you missed it, in October Gwen and Blake announced their engagement on Instagram. The pair began dating in 2015 when they both served as coaches on The Voice.
In an interview on The Tonight Show Tuesday (January 6), Gwen told host Jimmy Fallon she was wondering why it was taking the country-singer so long to propose.
“Wasn’t expecting it at the moment that it happened, at all,” she told Jimmy. “Didn’t have any idea, nobody knew. I think he had told my dad on my birthday about two weeks earlier, and I gotta tell you, I was sorta like, What’s happening with us?”
Gwen added, “It was kind of in my mind like, We’ve been together a long time now. What’s going on? I was in that place in my head.”
Gwen also hinted that it would be a while before the pair were married, as they want to wait until after the pandemic to hold an official ceremony. She joked, “It’s like, Blake, why couldn’t you have done it before! Now we can’t have a wedding with the pandemic. It’s like sitting around going, OK, drag it out more!”
